James joined the village prior to the glorious season of 2007. He came along to our preseason nets and promptly discovered how to dismiss half of the batsmen, who until his arrival, were looking forward to a run-filled season. How I hear you ask? By bowling out of the wrong hand and straight!... I do neither James nor the humiliated batsmen in question (yes, it was me) justice, it wasn't simply a matter of bowling straight, his stock delivery is on a good length pitched on off stump, which swings back late, to clatter into middle and leg. Unfortunately for my own confidence, he came back each week and the whole process was repeated. Going straight into the First XI he started taking wickets and helped set the village on target for Division One. It is not uncommon to see James get off to a less than average start with the ball, however, rarely does he not rectify this by finding his natural line and length and start knocking back the stumps.
In his first indoor season for the village he proved to be one of the most effective bowlers and his left arm provided great variation. After his first season James seems keen to demote himself to the second XI in an attempt to take up early retirement.
James Likes: Cars, Cricket, Magners, Winning and Moaning.
James Dislikes: 'Politically incorrect' speeches from former Kent Captains.
