Ben is the oldest, wisest and most succesful of the Fruin trio that is integral to the village. Ben has fulfilled almost every role possible for Harbledown at some stage and found a degree of sucess in all of them, batsman, bowler, wicketkeeper, fielder and captain, though if he was to fit in one particular category, it would most certainly be batsman.
Watching Ben bat is a lovely experiance, as he has plenty of time to play his strokes while maintaining a level of enthusiasm and eagerness to score runs. Bens speed between the wickets has been the downfall of many villagers, literally, rather than in terms of wicketloss, as after quick singles they find it easier to regain oxygen by lying flat out on the floor. His quick thinking and running, coupled with excellent placement are what makes Ben argueably Harbledown's best indoor batsmen.
Ben bowls less now than he once did, but when required, does so at a reasonable pace struggling with length rather than line, but the main issue with Ben bowling is the large gap that suddenly appears in the field. Once again his speed and agility are the driving force behind his success, reinfoced by an accurate arm and solid catching hands, wherever he is placed in the ring is almost guarenteed to be a single free zone.
